Gold medal 2024
Alive with stone fruits and spicy florals which intermingle nicely with the lush custard cream mousse, all circulated by a vibrant acidity. Long and toasty.
Sparkling wines in Chile are improving rapidly. A good example of this leap forward is Tatie, made by Viña Tabalí with technical advice from the champagne producers Thienot. With grapes from the Talinay vineyard (when we visited on January 17, they were about to begin the harvest), this is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay from three vintages, 2015–17. Yellow in color, it offers fragrant, expressive aromas reminiscent of brioche and white fruit plus hints of butter and toast. Crunchy on the palate, it is rich and refreshing with delicate bubbles.
Disgorged November 2024, the NV Brut TATIÉ opens with green apple, pear, praline, caramel and toast aromas. On the palate, it is tense, chalky and crisp, with sharp freshness and savory length. Expressive, dry and nervy, it nods clearly toward Champagne.
