Patricio Tapia - Descorchados
This chardonnay is produced from grapes sourced 40% from the Talinay Vineyard and 60% from the Espinal Vineyard, both coastal locations, the former with a higher proportion of calcium carbonate than the latter. What stands out in this wine is the saline quality that the limestone instills, not only in the flavors, but also in that piercing texture that’s usually associated with wines from calcareous soils. The rest is mouthwatering juicy fruit in a chardonnay for breaded chicken.
James Suckling: 92 Points
The nose shows subtle reduction, flint and lots of limes. Bone dry and acid-driven, with a chalky, medium-bodied palate and a saline touch. Sharp acidity, but the edges are rounded. 60% from the Espinal vineyard and 40% Talinay fruit. Drink or hold.
