The grapes for the 2018 Las Violetas, the old-vine cuvée from three vineyards in the "paraje" of Valverde in Cebreros were harvested during the second half of September in an unusually cool and balanced year that delivered Garnacha of great freshness and balance. It matured in a 10,000-liter Slovenian oak vat for 14 months. This wine is wild, austere and mineral, with sharp tannins reminiscent of the white granite. This is a wine I love—more backward, less aromatic, with more tension and chalky tannins. I love the texture here, so reminiscent of the granite soils. 11,500 bottles, 250 magnums and some larger formats produced. It was bottled in January 2020.
