James Suckling: 94 Points
This has the full body, concentration and spicy complexity that we expect from this appellation. Excellent interplay of elderberry fruit with licorice, wild herb and chocolate character and powerful but plush tannins. Bold but polished finish. A cuvee of 60% grenache, 25% mourvedre (all whole cluster) and 15% syrah, the older vines planted during the 1950s. Bottled unfiltered. This should age very well. Drink or hold.
Wine Spectator: 93 Points
Gorgious smokiness introduces this harmonious version, which offers incense, cherry and dusty earth notes anchored with crushed iron. There is a lot packed into an elegant frame, with fine tannins, kissed with singed apple wood and herb details
