A smaller production cuvée based on 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, the 2017 Gigondas Excellence just screams Southern Rhône with its spicy, complex nose of red and black fruits, new saddle leather, herbes de Provence, and ground pepper. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it shows the Provençal, medium to full-bodied, sunny style that's the hallmark of the vintage. It's drinking beautifully today yet will cruise for 15 years in cold cellars.
