in the Côte de Nuits, the Clos de Bèze made history in 640 and remained the property of the Burgundian abbey until 1219 when it was given to the canons of Langres until 1789. Chambertin shares the imperial crown with Clos de Bèze: it has been known by this name since the 13th century. Napoleon did not want to drink anything else.
Hornbeam is a very interesting tree because it is resistant to friction and pressure. It was used to make wheels, press screws or yokes for oxen. I hope that hornbeams will once again find their way into the vineyards. This cuvée is impressive because it represents the spirit of the Gevrey Grand Cru to perfection. Powerful and intense, yet still fresh.
