From two plots located on the Chassagne and Puligny side, the 2023 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a taut, fresh, mineral-driven bouquet with plenty of coiled-up energy. The palate is also fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity. It is more penetrating and citric than the Bienvenues, with a lick of salinity on the finish urging you back for another sip. This is a very impressive Bâtard-Montrachet that will give 20+ years of pleasure.

This superb wine shows prominent ripe apple fruit aromas along with the expected Bâtard spice and fat, butter and honey. Still, there is also a superb finesse and an elegance that is somewhat un-Bâtard-like. The texture is lighter than most wines from this appellation, and yet the wine lingers persistently on the finish. The grapes come from Alivina's share of the Pernot family's 0.61ha in Bâtard, where they have two parcels in Chassagne and two in Puligny. This wine is undeniably delicious now, but it will continue to improve for the next 30 years
